The 2012 Summer Institute for Muscogee County School District was comprised of two segments over four days. The first segment took place at Key Elementary on June 26-27. Segment 2 took place at Eagle Ridge Academy on June 28-29.
The first segment, titled Essential Literacy: Envision, Define, Align, focused on essentials for implementing the Cornerstone Literacy model for reading and writing, while also providing participants with the opportunity to examine tools and processes for deepening the implementation of literacy instruction in their buildings. These sessions were designed for schools that were new to Cornerstone Literacy.
The second segment, titled Journeying Through the Common Core State Standards, focused on a process for creating units of study for literacy using the Common Core State Standards and the Cornerstone Literacy model for reading and writing. These sessions were designed for schools that were already working with Cornerstone.
