MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

In addition to observing and participating in rigorous and relevant learning in the schools, you will be challenged by keynote speakers, Ray Suarez, journalist with PBS’ The NewsHour [Muscogee] and Tony Plana, currently one of the most recognizable Latino actors of stage and screen [Springfield]. Each will focus their attention on education and its implications for the “real world.” Both are noted for their engaging perspectives.

Ellin Keene, author of To Understand (2008) and co-author of Mosaic of Thought, Teaching Reading Comprehension in a Reader’s Workshop, will be a guest instructor at both winter meetings. Ellin has been a classroom teacher, staff developer, and adjunct professor of reading and writing and is well known across the country in the field of literacy instruction. This year each district, Muscogee and Springfield, will host a winter conference exclusively for their own district, maximizing the number of colleagues who may participate and benefit.

Mark your calendars early so you won’t miss the myriad learning opportunities and professional exchange:

Muscogee County Winter Conference – January 14-16, 2009 (Wednesday-Friday) Convening at the Columbus Trade Center and in Muscogee schools

Springfield, MA Winter Conference – February 4-6, 2009 (Wednesday-Friday) Convening at the downtown Marriott Hotel and in Springfield schools
