ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

TITLE:	Literacy Staff Developer for Muscogee County (Columbus), GA

WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION: 12-month position, competitive salary and benefits

DUTIES:

Provide literacy and leadership expertise and professional development for Muscogee district and school coaches at the elementary level. Support coaches as they work with school principals, leadership teams, faculty members and parent representatives to develop and implement an effective action plan for school change.
Contribute to the development of Cornerstone professional development materials for effective practice. Become proficient in the use of a wide range of professional learning strategies including, but not limited to: facilitating book study discussions, conducting planning sessions, demonstration lessons, debriefing sessions, grade-level discussions, modeling professional development sessions, observing and giving effective feedback to teachers.
Contribute to the profession through writing and presentations at professional meetings and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters+ in reading or literacy related field
Computer capability to develop and design professional development materials and presentations
Teaching experience with urban or economically disadvantaged students
Leadership experiences involving students, teachers, schools and/or districts

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

The nature of the position requires living in or commuting to Muscogee County, GA daily.
Occasional travel outside the region is required.
