Cornerstone Literacy conducts ongoing assessments of implementation of the literacy framework through regular school visits by our literacy fellows and through school review – a process that involves using teams of experienced educators to conduct detailed, onsite reviews of participating schools.

At the same time, external evaluations document the impact of our approach on improving student literacy achievement. Beginning with the program’s inception in 1998, a series of external evaluations have been conducted by the New York University Institute for Education and Social Policy (IESP) and, more recently, Policy Studies Associates (PSA), documenting and assessing CL’s effectiveness in improving student literacy.
