Muscogee County School District

Surrounding Columbus, Georgia, Muscogee County serves over 32,000 students in this central Georgia region that is 2 hours from Atlanta and near Ft. Benning, Georgia. Its superintendent is Dr. John A. Phillips, Jr.

Downtown Elementary School is a magnet academy that serves 442 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
Key Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade school and serves 340 students.
Rigdon Road Elementary School serves 217 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Rigdon Road is a "year-round" school with 100 percent African American students.
St. Mary's Elementary School is a school-within-a-school magnet, specializing in Video Communication Technology. With a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, the school serves 483 students and has won awards as a Title I district school.

New Haven Public Schools

New Haven Public Schools serves a diverse community: African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, Indian American and Caucasian. Of its 49 schools, 29 are elementary.

Jepson Elementary School (K-4) is part of a transformation to become a magnet school (K-8). The middle school and elementary await the construction of its new building.
Worthington - Hooker School prides itself on the multicultural and international student population. The school serves kindergarten through fourth graders.

Stamford Public Schools

The Stamford school district serves over 16,000 students in this New England town. The district superintendent is Joshua P. Starr. Stamford is the third largest corporate center in the nation and is located less than an hour from Manhattan, but retains its small town flavor.

Hart Elementary School is an elementary magnet school with a focus on science and technology. As a K-5 school, its population numbers 518.
Julia A. Stark Elementary School is a neighborhood school that represents many cultures and 28 different languages.
Stillmeadow Elementary School has an enrollment of 620 students in pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade.
Springdale Elementary School serves 572 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Because of its diverse population, the school community implements a variety of experiences to reach out to its families.

 

Foundation Status Schools

New Haven Public School District

In this Connecticut city of 126,000 residents, the New Haven Public School District serves 20,759 children in its 49 schools. Dr. Reginald Mayo is the superintendent.

Bishop Woods Elementary School serves 270 students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade. A Head Start program is also housed in the school. The school has won the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge for the past four years.

Springfield Public School District

Springfield, Massachusetts is a mid-sized city at the crossroads of Interstate 91 and the Massachusetts Turnpike in the western part of the state. Its school district serves 26,500 students in 44 schools under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Burke, its superintendent.

Frederick Harris Elementary School recently reopened after construction and renovations to double the school's size and add a new gymnasium, cafeteria, and state-of-the-art library/media center. It serves 494 students in grades K-5, with a population that is Hispanic (45%), Caucasian (36%), Black (16%) and Asian (3%).
Freedman Elementary School serves 274 students in grades K-5 and boasts an active parent-teacher organization that sponsors many community-building events throughout the year. The student body is largely Hispanic (56%) and Black (31%).
